May 26 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

J. P. Gemmer Muzzleloading Gun Club
“Doug Scott Memorial”
Chunk Gun Shoot
Be set up and ready to shoot at 12 noon.
Free to shoot. Bring a prize, take a prize. Bring something you would like to win, at least $10 worth.
Open Sights. Prone. 60 yards. Bring a sighter (target to aim at).
A “chunk” is a traditionally a piece of wood on the ground to support the barrel. The shooter lays on their stomach to shoot. This match will be 10 individual targets, one shot at each target. The distance from the center “X” will be measured and the total distance for 10 targets added together for an aggregate score.
A practice relay, up to four shots at your sighter, will start promptly at 12:00 pm and last about 20 minutes. Then one target is posted behind the sighter and one shot fired for score. There is no time limit, just try to get your shot off when ready. After all shooters shoot the target once, I will close the line and all shooters will pull the target and post the next one. Range safety rules will be followed – no loading between rounds, keep the muzzle up until you are at the firing line, and do not prime until the muzzle is pointed down range.
The butt must be supported by your body, no sandbag under the butt. No adjustment of sights after the practice shots are taken. Shaders and sandbags on top of the chunk are allowed. There is no weight or caliber limit on rifles. Wind flags at firing line only.
Out-of-towners welcome. Send me a text to let me know who is coming, and I will reply with an invite and directions to range. I ask that you comply with our range rules and sign a waiver… Questions? Walter Fett, match director.
