We had a great time at the Gemmer Archery Match today. We shot traditional, recurve, compound and cross bows as well as a atlatl (spear throwing device). Thank you Jim Feeney for setting up this event and we look forward to the next one!

New Additions to the Hawken Classic Rifle Display for 2025
For the last three years Greg Grimes, Bob Browner, and Dean McKibben have generously been sharing their gun collections with us at the Hawken Classic. This has resulted in a once in a lifetime display of original and contemporary Hawken and Missouri made rifles that the public has the opportunity to see.
Greg has informed me that he has five new additions that he will be bringing to the last Hawken Classic for 2025, on May 16-18. Dean McKibben also has been given a larger space for displaying his collection, so we should see many more new displays there as well.
Here is a preview of the new pieces Greg will be showing:
This year is going to be the biggest and best Hawken Classic yet, so please mark your calendar and come visit us. The location is the Lewis and Clark Boat House and Museum in St. Charles, Missouri. The dates are May 16-18, 2025 and the times are 10am to 5pm each day.
The museum will be open and FREE to visit during these 3 days of the Hawken Classic thanks to the support from the NMLRA, The Hawken Shop, The Gemmer Muzzle Loading Gun Club, Powder Horns and More, and the other vendors and supporters of the Hawken Classic.
Missouri State Rifle on Display
In August 2023 Missouri passed a bill naming the Hawken Rifle as the official state rifle for Missouri. Bob Browner built a copy of an S. Hawken rifle that he donated to Missouri to be displayed at the Capital museum in Jefferson City, Missouri.
This rifle was shot at the Hawken Classic in 2023 as part of the activities of the event.
Here are some pictures of this rifle and the write up that is posted next to it.
